Trends in fashion usually getting back every 15 years, but this futuristic trend is back a couple years earlier. With celebrities rocking sci-fi-themed fashion clothes and accessories, as well as TONS of movies of this genre are coming out in recent couple of years, plus, mainstream music is getting same style treatment with “cyberpunk” genre of EDM is in full bloom right now.
But back to fashion for a moment, you kinda know the futuristic style is mainstream when Kim Kardashian is rocking it. Because she herself and her team are always on top of whats hot in show-business. So this collaboration with prominent Israel based designer Carolina Lemke is one more indicator for our beloved style getting back big time.
This collection of seven sunglasses that cost $90 a piece are available to shop right now. She is also set to release a second collection featuring six different styles in late Spring. Carolina Lemke is an eyewear brand that works under a modern code: fashion comes first, and fashion is for all. The brand’s aesthetic is a Techno-Futuristic European style born out of the vibrant art, music and fashion scenes of Berlin. The label launches in the North American market in March, 2019.
Kim Kardashian West has added a new product category to her empire, one that’s perfectly suited to her L.A. lifestyle: A line of sunglasses in collaboration with Israel-based eyewear brand Carolina Lemke. In addition to partnering on the designs, Kardashian West also appears in the ad campaign; the first images, released Tuesday, were photographed by the high-wattage fashion photographer duo Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott.
“Mert & Marcus are really good friends, and we have been talking about projects we could work on together,” Kardashian West told The Hollywood Reporter. “So when the opportunity for the Carolina Lemke campaign came up, I knew I wanted the best photographer, so I reached out. We came up with this really fun concept that highlights the sunglasses in a very futuristic, powerful way.”
The campaign indeed reflects a futuristic vibe, while also winking at the Kardashian West image in popular culture. In some photos, five models styled as clones surround the beauty and lifestyle mogul, sparking the question: Which is the real Kim? And calling to mind the time in January 2018 when her husband Kanye West turned Paris Hilton and other models into Kim clones for his Yeezy season six campaign. Her longtime glam team — personal stylist Danielle Levi, hairstylist Chris Appleton and makeup artist Mario Dedivanovic, who also partners with Kardashian West on KKW Beauty — also worked on the images.

Widely considered one of the greatest anime films of all time, critics particularly praised the film’s visuals, achieved through a combination of traditional cel animation and CGI animation. The film, which had a budget over $10 million, was initially a box office failure, before drawing a cult following on home video, and eventually grossing approximately $43 million in total box office and home video sales revenue. It inspired filmmakers such as the Wachowskis, creators of the Matrix films, and James Cameron. In 2004, Oshii directed Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence, billed as a separate work and not a true sequel. In 2008, Oshii released an updated version of the original film, Ghost in the Shell 2.0, featuring new audio and updated 3D animation. A live-action adaptation (See: Ghost in the Shell) starring Scarlett Johansson was released in 2017.
Filming for Ghost in the Shell took place in New Zealand from February to June 2016, with additional filming in Hong Kong that June. The film premiered in Tokyo on March 16, 2017, and was released in the United States on March 31, 2017, in 2D, 3D, IMAX 3D and 4DX.
It received mixed reviews, with praise for its visual style, action sequences, cinematography and score, but criticism for its story and lack of character development. The casting of Caucasian actors, particularly Johansson, drew accusations of racism and whitewashing in the United States. It grossed $169 million worldwide against a production budget of $110 million, and is considered a box office bomb.
The film has been nominated in two categories for the Hollywood Post Alliance (HPA) Awards, and was also nominated for the ‘Most Innovative Advertising’ category at the Motion Picture Sound Editors‘ Golden Reel Awards. It won the 12th annual HPA Award for ‘Color Grading’. The film was on the Academy Awards shortlist for the category of Visual Effects, and later ended up on the shortlist for Hair and Makeup, but was not nominated for either category.
It was also nominated for Best Contemporary Make-up by the Make-Up and Hair Guild. On October 23, 2018, the film’s composer Lorne Balfe received the “Top Film Score” award at the ASCAP London Music Awards.
Synopsis: In the near future, Major (Scarlett Johansson) is the first of her kind: A human saved from a terrible crash, who is cyber-enhanced to be a perfect soldier devoted to stopping the world’s most dangerous criminals. When terrorism reaches a new level that includes the ability to hack into people’s minds and control them, Major is uniquely qualified to stop it. As she prepares to face a new enemy, Major discovers that she has been lied to: her life was not saved, it was stolen. She will stop at nothing to recover her past, find out who did this to her and stop them before they do it to others. Based on the internationally acclaimed Japanese Manga, “The Ghost in the Shell.”
We must say that despite of some criticism around casting for this epic movie, we (Get Futuristic Crew) personally think that Scarlett Johansson was the perfect choice for this role, because of her popularity among Japanese viewers, due to success of the movie “Lost in Translation”, and her ability to look convincing in complicated combat scenes.
As spotted by io9, Netflix announced that a new Ghost in the Shell anime is coming — Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045 which will be directed by Shinji Aramaki (Appleseed), and Kenji Kamiyama (Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex). Netflix doesn’t reveal any additional details, other than to say that it will be released sometime in 2020.
P.S. Although we liked the original soundtrack of the movie and the anime series, we would like to introduce to our readers the alternative “Ghost In The Shell” soundtrack by Japanese artists – “MAGNUS DEUS“, because we really think they did a great job recreating cyberpunk atmosphere of futuristic scene. Last year, Donatella Versace reinvented the Versus label to feature a rotating roster of guest designers and fashion creative types to create season-less capsule collections. Buzzy Brit (and recent LVMH hire) J.W. Anderson was the first, followed by a small partnership with K-Way, and M.I.A. makes second full collection, which may be a signal of more collaborators from the music and entertainment realms to come.
“It’s always been part of the M.I.A. culture – to talk about bootlegs, and people that sell them or make them, she said. “When I was approached by Versace, it seemed like a good idea to take that and reverse the cycle. Versace designs have always been bootlegged, now it’s Versace bootlegging the bootleg for the bootleggers to bootleg the bootleg. This is to keep that cycle going.”
“I adore the energy of the street, so when M.I.A. proposed to expose the issue of counterfeit Versace pieces by creating a collaboration inspired by these items, I thought it was an incredible idea,” Donatella Versace told WWD. “The collection represents all that I love of the new Versus Versace: it’s fast, it’s noisy, it’s brazen and it blends the world of music with that of fashion. I can’t wait to see it worn.”
For the 19-piece collection, the Grammy Award-winning artist and Versus Versace created kaleidoscopic prints inspired by bootleg Versace merchandise found by M.I.A. in London markets as a teenager. New iterations of iconic Versace designs, from the Versace logo to the interlocking Greek key, are inflated and juxtaposed in graphic prints that echo the energy of the street.
The collaboration includes pieces for both men and women, from T-shirts and printed jeans to silk shirts, jersey dresses and military-inspired outerwear. The collection will be available online and in select stores beginning October 16.
This brand is totally run all mainstream street fashion! From Hip-Hop and TRAP underground culture to pop music stars and fashionistas. This brand successfully used all three main trend rules for 2013-2014 – 1. GEOMETRY (triangles, squares, circles). 2. COLORS (black, gold, bright colors) 3. STYLE (long shirts and hoodies, long sleeves on t-shirts, symmetry in prints).
M.I.A. is back to Trendsetting game again! And coming back stronger than ever! We seen her famous collaboration with Versace “Versus”, her incredibly powerful album “Matangi”, and every her live performance is incredible! Real artist!
As we can see she confirmed, what global trendsetters already started a year earlier, that #GOLD trend is still in power for 2014. But she is adding more color (as expected from her). So it looks fresher than standard Black+Gold trend combination.
